About Ambo MCQ
Irish EMT exam practice, built by a student EMT's husband
Why Ambo MCQ exists
Ambo MCQ started at a kitchen table in County Leitrim. My wife, Monique, is studying to become an EMT, and she was printing her study material, building multiple-choice question PDFs and printing those too, just so she could test herself. She shared the PDFs with her classmates, but every practice test took ages to prepare. There was also no way to see whether her results were improving from one attempt to the next.
I've been writing software for businesses for over 25 years, so I offered to build her something better. Ambo MCQ is the result: Irish EMT exam practice where you can take as many quizzes as you like and see your results straight away.
Irish EMT exam practice, question by question
Ambo MCQ has a large and growing bank of multiple-choice questions based on the PHECC syllabus and Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs). Every answer comes with a rationale, so you learn why an answer is right and not only whether you got it right. Your accuracy is tracked by category, so you can see which modules are strong and which need more revision.
Built for student EMTs and re-certification
The site is for anyone preparing for an EMT exam in Ireland, whether that's an EMT student working through the course or a practising responder preparing for re-certification. Monique shared the site with her classmates and her colleagues in Leitrim Civil Defence, and most of them have signed up to test themselves for the course or for re-certification prep.
Who's behind it
Monique is an office administration professional with a background in education. She ran a small school in South Africa for children with learning and behaviour difficulties. She recently joined Leitrim Civil Defence to give back to her community, and her EMT training supports that work. I'm a software developer with more than 30 years in IT, and I built and maintain the site. Monique's experience as a student and a teacher shapes how it works.
