Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed: October 2026

We want Ambo MCQ to be usable by everyone studying for the Irish EMT exam, including people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, voice control, magnification or high-contrast settings. This page says what we aim for, what we have checked, what we haven't checked yet, and how to tell us when something doesn't work.

1. Our Aim

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That covers, among other things, enough colour contrast for text and controls, a visible keyboard focus, labels on every form field, error messages that are announced and tied to the field, and pages that work at a narrow width and at larger text sizes.

2. What We Have Checked

In October 2026 we audited the site against WCAG 2.2 AA and fixed what we found. The checks were:

  • Automated testing with axe-core on the public and learner pages, and Lighthouse on the main ones, in the light and dark themes and both colour palettes, on a desktop and a phone-sized screen, signed in and signed out.
  • Walking through the pages using only the keyboard, including the cookie banner, the menus and the quiz.
  • Calculating the colour contrast of text, form fields and focus outlines in all four themes.
  • Checking each page for sideways scrolling at a 320 pixel width.

The site also respects your system's reduced-motion setting.

3. Known Limitations

We believe the pages we tested meet WCAG 2.2 AA, but some things can only be judged by people using assistive technology, and we have not finished that testing. Until we have, we can't say the site fully conforms.

  • Screen readers. We have not yet tested with a screen reader such as NVDA or VoiceOver. We expect error and status messages, the quiz question groups and the Results page to read well, but we haven't confirmed it.
  • Charts on the Results page. Each chart has a text description, and most have a "Show as table" button that gives the same numbers. You can step through a chart's points with the arrow keys, but that only shows the values on screen. Use the table to read them.
  • Time limits. Timed Mode is optional. The Exam Simulator is timed on purpose, to match the real exam, and submits when time runs out.
  • Payment pages. Payments are taken on our payment providers' own pages, which we don't control.
  • Emails. The emails we send haven't been checked for accessibility.
  • Administrator pages. The pages used to run the site have had less testing than the pages learners use.

4. Tell Us About a Problem

If you can't use part of the site, or you find something hard, please tell us. Use the Contact page or email hello@ambomcq.ie. Say which page it was, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser and any assistive technology you were using, if you can. We will look into it and tell you what we find.

5. Changes to This Statement

We will update this page as we finish the testing described above and whenever we change the site in a way that affects accessibility.
